Attendance Policy 2011 - 2012

Last updated: 06-30-11

Policy effective as of September 19, 2011

1.     As part of a team, it is imperative to attend rehearsals and performances.  An absence from a single team member dramatically hurts the team as a whole.  Choosing to be part of the Fox Cities Dance Academy is making a commitment to your team that you will be in class each week and will perform with your team at the competitions we attend.  Although attendance is mandatory for all dancers, please note the following regarding excused absences:

·         Weekly team class: Dancer may not have more than 2 hours of an excused absence each month.

·         Weekly ballet / technique class: Dancer may not have more the 1 hour of an excused absence each month.  Any missed ballet / technique class must be made up during that month.

·         Weekly fitness class: Open – attendance is not required

·         Production class: Dancer may not miss more the 1 production practice for the year.

·         Absences are excused at the discretion of your instructor.  Please speak with your instructor regarding your specific conflict.

If you exceed the allotted excused absences, you must schedule and pay for a private lesson with your instructor to learn what you have missed in class

2.     If we feel that a dancer’s absences become too excessive or occur at pivotal times, such as close to a performance, the instructor reserves the right to pull them for a particular performance.

3.     Attendance the week of a competition in mandatory. Any student absent from team class during that week will be considered unexcused and that student will not perform at that competition.  The competition organizations do not provide refunds for missing dancers; therefore you will not receive a refund of competition fees due an absence. If any team feels they cannot uphold their commitment to the team, it is suggested that they withdraw from the competition team.
