The starting of a new dance season and/or a new studio for some of you leaves you with a lot of questions so please feel free to email either Miss Toni, Dance Coordinator / Instructor, or Miss Cassie, Program Assistant. Here may be answers to some of your questions:

Ballet Classes

In an effort to make it easier for our dancers to maximize their time between dance practice and school work for the 2011 – 2012 dance season, the ballet schedule is offering a total of 6 ballet classes during the week (3 upper level and 3 lower level). All team members are required to take ONE* 1-hour ballet class each week. Classes are split into levels 1-2 (lower level) and 3-4 (upper level), with multiple times available for each level (see Class Schedule for details). These classes do not compete but do perform in the Dance Factory Annual Revue. Please alos see Costume Fee information. The dancer will have a choice of day and time each week. We ask the dancer attends one class per week (hoping one class time will fit into their schedule). 

 

* Exception: Elite team members.  See Elite Class Requirement below for details

Elite Class Requirement

All elite team members are required to take TWO 1-hour ballet classes each week and ONE 1-hour technique class each week in addition to their regular team classes. There is no performance or costume for these classes. See the Class Schedule page for class times and locations.

  • Once you reach the 6 class price maximum you will be able to participate in an unlimited number of classes at no additional class fee
  • Includes ballet, technique, and dance fitness classes
  • Costume and competition fees are not included
  • Production numbers, solos, duets, and trios will be charged separately
  • Each 1-hr team class fee = $336.00; each 30-minute team class fee = $176.00; each rotating class fee $176.00

Fitness Class

Weekly fitness classes are being offered this year on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM in the dance studio. It is Open; attendance is not required.  Regular 1-hour class fee applies. Class time / location also listed on the Class Schedule.

Hip Hop

We are looking for a professional hip hop choreographer.  We will notify all FCDA team members by November 18, 2011, of a hip hop production schedule. 

Intensives: Technique classes and Production rehearsals

This summer we will be offering Technique classes and Production rehearsals from Tuesday, July 12 through Thursday, August 4. For details, click here for the summer Intensives schedule page. Sign-up begins on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Please register at the HOTV YMCA front desk. Intensive classes will start the week of August 8. See the Intensivee page for details.

 

Productions Numbers:

  • All dancers placed on a lyrical team may register for the lyrical production numbers.
  • All dancers placed on a jazz team may register for the jazz production numbers.

 

This year all production numbers will start registration on July 6, 2011. The cost for class (August-May) and costume will be $150. This amount must be paid in full. All Production Numbers will have rehearsals on Saturdays between the hours of 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. A rehearsal schedule will be released at the parent meeting on Thursday, August 18 at 6:00 PM held in the HOTVY dance studio. Please fill out a Production Registration form and return to the silver box (located inside the dance studio) or to our Dance Administrative Assistant, Cassie, by the first production rehearsal on July 18, 2011.
